OK, further to previous response (which can now be ignored), I used the
apt-get procedures above, and it downloaded something...

Nope; the Atheros AR9565 is still not seen. Not in "ifconfig", not in
"dmesg".

"lspci -v" however says:

02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: Lite-On Communications Inc Device 0642
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 3
	Memory at f0a00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K]
Expansion ROM at f0e00000 [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
	Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable- Count=1/4 Maskable+ 64bit+
Capabilities: [70] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
	Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
	Capabilities: [140] Virtual Channel
Capabilities: [160] Device Serial Number 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00

Sigh... Looks like I'll have to sell this thing, or swap it for an
equivalent lapdog that works with Debian...
