Re: How to turn the screen off, while working in console



I use this command to shut my screen off:
xset dpms force off

but when I move my mouse or press a key, it turns back on. I don't know if it's what you're looking...

I'd also start with BIOS and /etc/console-tools/config (BLANK_TIME and POWERDOWN_TIME).

If you rather like to trigger it manually, then you're better off with sudo. There's a NOPASSWD option (man sudoers).
