Hi there,

So my two problems specifically are:

1.  Speakers produce noise at reboot.
2.  Screen is dimmed to the lowest level after resuming from the first suspend.

I had a similar screen dimming issue that was resolved by chaning the way sleep was involed, and editing the scripts called during sleep shutdown. I'm at work so I can't be more specific, but this link was invaluable to helping me troubleshoot my suspend / resume issues. http://wiki.debian.org/Suspend

Be sure to check out the links and relevant man pages. Many problems can be resolved by editing or creating new scripts in the sleep / resume directory. For example, a scipt to shut-down alsa then restart it on resume might resolve the sound issue. I don't think the dimming is as much a script issue as the way that suspend is being called.

Best,
