I'm guessing madwifi was working until you switched to kernel 2.6.32 (cause it works perfectly fine with kernel 2.6.26) and now doesn't load anymore but loads the native linux drivers (wlan0 on ath5k, my guess) instead, which - as far as I've experienced it so far - don't work so well at least with my wifi-card: aku@hexbrex:~$ lspci | grep -i ath 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001\ Wireless Network Adapter (rev 04) I'm stuck with kernel 2.6.26 because so far I haven't managed to get either madwifi working with kernel>2.6.26 or to get the native linux drivers for my card to work reliably enough. - It keeps cutting out on me after 1/2h-1h, forcing me to reload all the related modules or restart, I'm not sure if that's the driver, my router - which I don't trust either, or just misconfiguration on my or wicd's part. So far I just couldn't get the madwifi-modules to build for newer kernels (Note: I'm using the debian-shipped sources for both kernel and madwifi). I'd be most interested to hear of anybody that has one of the ath(_pci|5k)-cards and got it working properly with either madwifi and kernel>2.6.26 or the native linux drivers.
