The difference is that when you decide to use the ondemand governor, you don't 
need programs such as cpudynd or powernowd. 

Install cpufrequtils and run cpufreq-info to check which governors are 
available to you (you have to have them compiled into kernel or appropriate 
modules loaded). If you see "ondemand" among other available cpufreq 
governors, you can activate it: cpufreq-set -g ondemand. And that's all!
