I've tried this with my DWL-G650, and the module recognizes the card.
But how do I get the pcmcia cardmgr to recognize the card and run
the networking scripts for me?  I tried putting the manfid into 
/etc/pcmcia/config and .../config-2.4, but that didn't help.
