mmm,... 

- are  you running a firewall?
# iptables -nL
or
# ipchains -nL

- is routing ok?
# netstat -atrn

- what happens when you ping, resolve etc.
# ping google.com
# ping 64.233.187.99    (is google.com)
# host google.com
