PCMCIA modem working sometimes

Since I reinstalled my T40 (2.6.13 custom kernel with a radeon patch), 
when I insert my PCMCIA modem card I usually get:

Oct  6 14:33:52 t40 kernel: 2.6. kernels use pcmciamtd instead of 
memory_cs.c and do not require
 special
Oct  6 14:33:52 t40 kernel: MTD handling any more

and then sometimes, but not always get.

Oct  6 14:43:03 t40 kernel: ttyS2 at I/O 0x3e8 (irq = 11) is a 16550A

while sometimes the ttyS2 device is not created at all.

Anyone know of this problem ?
