I don't understand what you mean by that.
Which steps do you take for connecting your Wifi card to the network?
For me, it looks similar to the following:

modprobe rt2500     # rt2500 or whatever your wireless module is
iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
iwconfig wlan0 ESSID "your-essid"
dhclient wlan0         # or ifconfig and whatever else is needed for static addresses
