I understand. That is, I can see the need for more experimental stuff
with AMD64.

But I don't think that is correct. The 'mm' doesn't stand for
multimedia. As far as I know, it's more or less a playground for various
patches, to get some testing before they are considered for the
mainstream kernel.

Ofcourse, with the server background of Linux and the shift towards
laptops/deskops, you could say that the percentage of mm-patches related
to laptops/desktops is higher than those in the mainstream kernel. So,
in that sense, it may be slightly more geared towards laptops/desktops.

Too bad, I'm still looking for this feature that will double my battery
life, triple the speed of the CPU, makes my 4:3 screen wider and adds
100 Gb to my drive. Oh, and blu-ray capabilities for my CD/DVD drive,
ofcourse. But I guess I'm out of luck :-)
