RE: Load Installer Components Fails on Inspiron 7500
I think I have located the problem : having used the expert installation
parameter.
It appears that enabling the floppy support (and maybe one or two other
earlier options) causes this feature. I then told the system NOT to start
PC-Card services. It enabled the files to be copied (with lots of warnings
about missing packages, including Linux-IDE) and eventually returned to main
menu with options for network support; installation etc.
Thanks to Frans who pointed me in the direction of IDE - ATAPI options.

The problem is probably not with your CD but with the installation system
not recognizing your CD drive controller.
Have you tried booting the installer with 'linux26' (to use a 2.6.8 kernel
instead of the default 2.4.27 kernel)?
