It should find them from the same place your compile found them when you 
created the kernel.  IE, generally under /usr/src/linux

LOL.  I have compiled the ltmodem driver for my inspiron, but it probably only 
runs with a 2.2 or lower kernel, since I haven't used that modem in years.
