If you use hotplug, you must download the specific firmware for your
card. My "lspci -v" say:

0000:02:03.0 Network controller: Intersil Corporation Intersil ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette] (rev 01)

	Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 80, IRQ 11
	Memory at f8ffc000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
	Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

so I've downloaded isl3890 firmware and put it on
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/isl3890

I'm on 2.6.5 too.
