eth1 without eth0

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of moving my laptop from 2.4.22 to 2.6.5 so that I can
update the ACPI HOWTO (talk about glutten for punishment--I'm wrecking a
perfectly good system just so that I can update my HOWTO).

The kernel compiled beautifully and with minor amounts of bashing I was
able to get nVidia working again. At some point I'll go back through and
recompile to take out all the stuff that I really don't need. In the mean
time, I've got a few "gotchas" to solve. I think I'll be able to work
things through ok, I just need to be pointed at TFMs so that I can read
them. ;)

Under 2.4.22 I had pcmcia as a hand rolled module. Now this is built into
the kernel. When I boot into the new kernel I can't get my wireless to
work. Under ifconfig I have lo and eth1 listed, but not eth0. My ifdown
and ifup scripts complain that eth0 is not configured. The modules for my
wireless card are loaded when I boot into the new kernel, but I can't ping
the router. Does anyone have a brief set of instructions started on how to
get wireless working in 2.6.5/x?

thanks!
emma
