Newbie: Mouse Question

Hello all,

i have a question regarding a mouse. The mouse works just fine with a
usb->PS/2 adapter, but at the usb port it does nothing (not even disabling
the touch pad)

dmesg gives (relevant messages only):
Actually i noticed that lines 3-5 look strange to me (comments?, dangerous?)
It recognizes the mouse correctly [Genius NetScroll + Mini Traveler]

That's it. Can anyone tell me what to do, or where to look?
RTFM is fine with me, as long somebody tells me which manual. :)

Tom
