I don't think so as from your description these messages happen before
there is any filesystem mounted that you could log to.  The floppy you
booted from isn't a proper filesystem.

Have you tried the versions of the boot floppies with different kernels?

There is one called safe which says it works around some buggy BIOSes
and the ide-pci version doesn't have APM support so may work better on
your hardware.
