Re: sarge installation on a HP xt6200

Try 'sid'. For me work well and many other people reported success with it.
Don't forget to test another kernel? My standard kernel was crashing. I have
to reinstall to 2.4.20. Till now stable.
However I never get similar error from HD but I remember this message
comming from CD-ROM when unreadable medium was inserted.

Now I red your message again and I found that you have troubles already
at installation. Look for thread 'Installation problem' from 4.4.2003 at this
list. I had other problems with 'sarge' distribution. Ronin2 suggested me
right way, which was good also for installing 'sid' distribution.

Hope this help

yesterday I tried to install a `fresh' sarge system from the (latest)
ISO-images on a HP xt6200.
This laptop was running fine with woody before.

When I partitioned the disk, I got (several times) error-messages like
these:
hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
hda: drive not ready for command
hda: lost interrupt

I tried to start with `linux pci=biosirq idebus=66' (which was in the
lilo.conf for my woody-system) but this doesn't help.

Has anyone a better idea what to do against this (okay I know I can
install woody again .-)
