Audio on Prostar 8880

Hello,

I running a 2.4.21 kernel with Debian(woody) Stable. I thought I correctly selected audio support in before building out the kernel. This portable has just about everything but USB 2.0 I could easily have conflict either in the audio of video packages I have "apt-get" installed.

I thinking about upgrading the kernel to 2.6-testing with debian, but, I figure I sould install this on an old ibm thinkpad 770ED or a Desktop Pentium 350, to get some practice BEFORE I screw up the portable I use to make a living. I guess I'm looking for suggestions or guidance, as well as details on getting the audio and video to work on this Prostar 8880.

<in a pop up window, I get this error message>

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
Cant's set requested samplingrate (requested rate 44100, got rate 32000)
The sound server will continue, using the null outpu device.
