I could not get the wlan_ng options to work in my /etc/network/interfaces originally and ended up with having something like: wireless_enc 01:23:45:67:89:ab:cd:ef:01:23:45:67:89 in there. This is due to having eth1 assigned to my wlan card (not wlan*). linux-wlan-ng does not recognise other cards than wlan* and having wireless-tools installed.
