Re: Writing Cd's with TOSHIBA SD-R21021715

Hi

an off chance here...maybe your trying to burn at a speed that is to high, try setting down your burn speed....my cd-writer is supposed to be able to burn at a rate higher than 4x but if i set a speed higher than 4x then i get an error that reminds me of the one you have

hmmm...

regardless of whether I use the cdwriter with or without scsi emulation I
still get the same error:

cdrecord: Premature EOF on stdin.
Waiting for reader process to fill input buffer ...
cdrecord: Input buffer error, aborting.
input buffer ready.
cdrecord: fifo had 1 puts and 0 gets.
cdrecord: fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was 100%.

any thoughts?

Hi All!

I am trying to enable cd-writing with my Asus L3800 Laptop which has a
toshiba SD-R21021715 combo DVD-CDR/RW I am running Debian Woody with
the 2.4.20 Kernel from Kernel.org. The kernel has been patched with
acpi & Asus tweak (which is working really well!!) Currently I have
enabled sccsi emulation & disabled ide cdrom in the kernel. The system
boots fine and I can read cd's without any problems.. Unfortunately I
can't burn em!

I have the same laptop.
With recent versions (testing) of cdrecord its possible to write cds
withous SCSI Emulation. This works fine for me. You have just to use
dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 as device option. This works also with xcdroast.
