Actually, you even need xfs -- X can server fonts (including
Type1 and TT fonts) directly (I am not sure, what is xfs worth on
laptop which is not expected to serve fonts to anybody else).
I have this in the config file:
Section "Files"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo"
EndSection
(and do not check, that you have line
Load "freetype"
in Module Section).
