FWIW on my IBM A21p Thinkpad I see the same problem as Tiago with any

If I compile PCMCIA directly in the kernel I do see that module. Unfortunately I get no action when I insert a card. If I have a card
inserted when I start pcmcia then it finds it, but it doesn't work (at

When you use yenta_socket for your network cardbus card you should use apropriate kernel driver not one from PCMCIA package. I had HUGE problems with lockups with 3com 3CXFE575CT before i switched to yenta_socket.o and 3c59x.o
