FWIW on my IBM A21p Thinkpad I see the same problem as Tiago with any
version of the kernel since 2.4.17 (latest I have tried is
2.4.20-pre8). I think it is maybe a card services bug (problems with
any release from 3.1.33 to 3.2.1).

I don't have a 'yenta_socket' module, since I usually use the separate
pcmcia-modules package that I compile with make-kpkg when I build my
kernel.

If I compile PCMCIA directly in the kernel I do see that module.
Unfortunately I get no action when I insert a card. If I have a card
inserted when I start pcmcia then it finds it, but it doesn't work (at
least my WLAN card doesn't work, and that's kind of the most important
card to me :-).

For now I have stuck with 2.4.17, which (a) notices when I insert a card
in the socket, and (b) manages to find usable IRQs for both the socket
and the cards I insert into it.

With my 2.4.17 kernel things are much happier:

This is using an older version of Card Services (3.1.31 vs 3.2.1) , and
I _believe_ that this problem is what the finger can be pointed. I have
had no luck at all with more recent builds, but I have not gone so far
as to download the old 3.1.31 pcmcia source and use that with the newer
2.4.19 kernel - perhaps that should be what I do next.

I sure would love to get this working - it really bugs me when an
upgrade turns out to be a downgrade :-(

						Andrew.
