RE: inspiron 7500 & power down pblm

Check that you do not have SMP (multi-processing)
set in the kernel config.
If you do, the system will not power down on its
own.

Subject: inspiron 7500 & power down pblm

hi

i have an inspiron 7500, i'm running a woody on it with a 2.4.18 kernel.

i have a pblm for powering off the puter ... when i type 'poweroff' in the
tty* the system enter in init 0 level ... display all teh daemon which are
stopped and the last line i got is :
'Power down.'

the laptop won't go reallly down ... here is a part of my .config file :

CONFIG_PM=y
# CONFIG_ACPI is not set
CONFIG_APM=y
# CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND is not set
CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE=y
# CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE is not set
# CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK is not set
# CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT is not set
CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS=y
CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF=y <--- i try to set and unset this option ...
same deal .. not powering off ..

i have really no clue on what could be wrong ... any idea ??

thks
