Re: debian laptop for a train hopper

Jason,

Having spent a few years X-country hitch-hiking the US (for our european
listeners I point out its a sight more dangerous stateside), I have two
questions:

How do you keep it dry?

How do you keep it in your possession?

My recommendation would be to separate out the functionality you require.
Writing: notebook (pad and pencil); listening: player (cassette|cd|mp3, as
you like); programming and browsing: get yourself a shell account somewhere.
It is easy enough to find a #> on the road. At worst you can wash dishes at
the local coffeeshop for an hour of access.

Have fun, but don't carry anything you're not ready to give away at the
sight of a weapon.
