ISA PnP or Manual Settings for Sound?

My HP OmniBook 4100 uses the CS4237B chip.

CS4235,CS4236,CS4236B,CS4237B,CS4238B,CS4239.
Module snd-card-cs4236.o for soundcards based on CS4235, CS4236,
CS4236B, CS4237B, CS4238B, CS4239 chips. This Module supports
up to 8 cards. This module does not support auto probe if ISA PnP is not
used thus main port and control port must be specified!!! Other ports are
optional.

Is there any reason why I would not toggle on ISA PnP during the
setup of the kernel? How much of a hassle is it to set the main port
and control port?

Note: I am loading 2.4.13 on my laptop, it already has Unstable,
upgraded from Progeny. My pcmcia ports are working fine but
sound remains a challenge.

Thanks! Doc
