TP 590x kernel 2.4.10 i82365 module won't insert

[I also sent a very similar message to the linux-thinkpad list yesterday,
apologies to anyone that sees it twice.]

I've installed Debian Potato (stable) on my Thinkpad 390X and a Xircom
PCMCIA ethernet card worked fine. I upgraded it to Woody (testing) and it
continued working until I tried to upgrade to the stock Debian 2.4.9
kernel. At that point I get:

Intel PCIC probe: not found
i82365.o: init_module: No such device

I made my own 2.4.10 kernel and get the same message when I tried to
modprobe i82365 manually.

/proc/pci contains (among other things):

Bus 0, device 3, function 0:
CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1251B (rev 0).
  IRQ 10.
Master Capable. No Bursts. Min Gnt=192.Max Lat=7.
  Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0x14000000 [0x14000fff].
Bus 0, device 3, function 1:
CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1251B (#2) (rev 0).
  IRQ 10.
Master Capable. No Bursts. Min Gnt=192.Max Lat=7.
  Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0x20000000 [0x20000fff].

The machine has 320Mb of RAM.

I've done lots of google searches, looked at the archives for this list and
meddled in the BIOS to ensure that all the PCI INT[ABCD] lines were getting
unique IRQs but none of this has helped.

Has anyone got any ideas on my next best move?

TIA
