Sound problems on IBM T22 (CS4614/22/24)
Hi
My T22 is pretty much working with Linux now, but sound is giving me some
problems. I get very lousy sound and a lot of these messages (in /var/log/syslog)
when playing an MP3 file in XMMS:
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x26 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x4 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x26 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x2 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x4 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x26 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x2 val=0x1
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x26 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x4 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x6 val=0x1
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x26 val=0x0
cs46xx: AC'97 read problem (ACSTS_VSTS), reg = 0x2 val=0x0
Another strange thind is that I after a track or two the sound stops. XMMS keeps
playing, but I get no sound.
I'm running Debian testing with a custom 2.4.5 kernel with the SGI XFS patch
(all partitions on the disk are formatted with XFS).
I have read about a lot of people using the ALSA drivers with their Thinkpads,
could that be the solution to my problem?
