pcmcia package

I don't think I've ever figured this out.
Here's what I'm doing.

I install the source package for 2.2.19 and pcmcia-cs.
make menuconfig on the kernel to my hearts content and then do:
make-kpkg clean
make-kpkg --revisioin=010607.1 kernel_image
(my revisioning is yymmdd.x)
dpkg -i ../kernel-image...

Everything is cool so far.

Then I do
make-kpkg --revision=010607.1 modules_image
dpkg -i ../pcmcia-modules...

Now, if I have to do another kernal image (call it 010608.1)
it yells about the revision of pcmcia-cs being <>010608.1 and dies
if I recompile a pcmcia-modules to revision=010608.1 and try to
install it... It yells about the kernel image <> 010608.1 and it
dies.

I have to do a force install every time.

I'm certain that I'm not doing something quite right.
Could someone please explain what it is that I'm doing wrong?
Should I not be using revision numbers on something?
