Same thing happened to me last week when I installed Potato/Woody on a
TP 755 Cs. I'm sure there must be good reasons, but it's strange that
no window manager is required with the core X packages.
Also, I didn't need to disable gpm, just re-run gpmconfig and change
the repeat_type option to "none" (I think.)
