Yes, if you want to use the full kernel configuration. You could also
use the disk images in the compact and idepci subdirectories (under
images-1.44) if they provide enough drivers for your setup. Look at the
README.txt files in those directories for more information.
IIRC, you'll have to make sure that your root, rescue and driver images
all match up.
