Hi,
I got the same problem when I first intalled Debian on my laptop(Dell
latitude CPi), but I fixed it:
try different mouse type such that "microsoft" "PS/2" and different
device "/dev/gpmdata" "/dev/psaux". One of combinations will fit your
mouse.
