Downgrading the kernel in order to use swsusp

Hi,

I want to use software suspend on my laptop (a Thinkpad i1267) since
hardware suspend only works via ACPI. However because the neccessary kernel
patch swsusp (available from
http://falcon.sch.bme.hu/~seasons/linux/swsusp.html) only works with kernel
version 2.2.14 (and below) I need to downgrade from version 2.2.17 (the one
that's delivered with Potato). Is this save to do? Are there some issues I
need to be aware of?

TIA,

Felix
