in general, i've had mostly failures w/ pcmcia using the 2.4.0 test
series -- none of the test series that i've tried (4, 6, and 7) work
w/ my modem nor w/ my flash ata memory (i've heard that earlier test
versions would work w/ flash ata memory if support was built as a
module).
i think the 3com network card i use has worked w/ 4 and may be 6
(didn't try 7). on the other hand, i've had a lot more success w/
usb-related things (even compared to using the 2.2.x usb backport
patch).
i use 2.4.0 test 7 at work w/ a usb network device and at home for
dial-up i use 2.2.16 in order to use the pcmcia modem.
i was under the impression that the latest pcmcia-cs is not in sync w/
the 2.4.0 test series (or the other way around, depending on your
viewpoint) -- this seemed to be the case in the not-so-distant past,
anyway.
