I am unable to get a working X configuration above 320x200 screen
resolution on a Sony Vaio PCG F430 (components are similar to the F450).
OS is Debian Slink (from the Sam's "Installing Debian" book -- sorry,
but that's what I bought last night after discovering my InfoMagic disk
was 2.0). Chipset is Neomagic, should run with the SVGA driver. XF86
version is 3.3.2.3. 2.0.36 kernel.
The system *should* run at 1024x768 16 bpp, but won't with my current
configuration.
The system previously ran TurboLinux at the preferred resolution, using
the SVGA driver. The LinuxCare bootable business card also produces a
1024x768 display. So I know it's doable.
Output indicates the server is defaulting to the builtin 300x200 screen
resolution, though I can't work out why. And while the XF86Config file
below shows a 320x204 resolution, I've tried replacing these with
1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480, with no results at 8 and 16 bpp.
I'm using XF86Setup for configuration.
