esssolo1 - es1938

Hi,
I just bought a new IBM Thinkpad. And I have some problems with
	the sound card.

I saw that kernel has an experimental driver for it. I have
compiled it, and it seems working fine. The only problem is that
it is not loud enough. When I use it in windoze, it is much
	louder :(.

Has anyone else tried out ALSA? Will it work better than the
kernel one? I have had a go on ALSA 0.5.6. Follow all the
instructions, and the modules seem inserted ok. Here is the cat
	/proc/modules output:

	snd-es1938 12520 0 (unused)
	snd-pcm 28824 0 [snd-es1938]
	snd-timer 7840 0 [snd-pcm]
	snd-mixer 22704 0 [snd-es1938]
	snd 34380 0 [snd-es1938 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-mixer]
	ltmodem 453168 1
	ppp 19596 2
	slhc 4300 1 [ppp]
	soundcore 2328 4 [snd]
	ntfs 34748 1

However, cat /proc/asound/cards still says --- no soundcards ---

Thanks for any help in advance.
Regards,

Shao.
