X11, modem and audio configurations

I've had some problems with configurations of my Compaq Armada 1500C. If
someone could help me.....

X11- its video card is based on CT69000, with 2Mb. When I boot up with
Windows 95 and I only restart the notebook to boot up with Linux (without
power down), all the configurations don't run: I get maybe three ou four
colors. Otherwise, if I power down the machine, power up it, and boot up
 with Linux, all configurations run!!
It seems a kind of bug in initiation of video card. Does it make sense?
Audio - it seems the easiest part of my question; could instalation process
set up correctly the audio card? What can I do to adjust it?
Modem - Could someone say me if on-board modem of this machine is a
Winmodem? Is there a device driver to this modem?

Thanks in advance!
