How about shell scripts? I use a netswitch shell script that allows me
to type netswitch home to link /etc/pcmcia/networks.opts.home to
/opt/pcmcia/network.opts. Then I just put the network card in and I'm
ready.
Of course the script could relink some other files as well. The
/etc/pcmcia/networks.opts allows the execution of certain commands after
setting up or shutting down the interface, which is an appropriate place
to shut down or (re-) start your daemons
So all you need basicly exists already :-)
