ich habe mir helfen lassen. Im Anhang ein gegengelesener Teil 11 der
FAQ.


2. zum Provides-Problem

Dieser Teil 11 enthält den "Provides:"-String, dessentwegen ich hier
in der Liste nachfragte. Die Übersetzung war gut, sie stammte von
Holger.

Ich stoße bei den englischen FAQs eben des öfteren auf Passagen, wo
ich im meiner Logik anderswo "lande" als der Autor. Oder, wie hier,
dass etwas Theoretisches ausgebreitet wird und es dem Leser überlassen
ist, was er für sich praktisch daraus machen soll.

Dass in "Provides:" virtuelle Pakete erscheinen, wie für mutt und
kmail von Dir, Helge, angesprochen, scheint der Regelfall zu
sein. 

Durch Suchen bin ich immerhin auf einen anderen Fall gestoßen. Den
Mail-Transfer-Agent exim4 gibt es in den Paketen exim4-daemon-light
und exim4-daemon-heavy. Bei beiden erscheinen in Provides: Pakete
namens exim4-localscanapi, diese sind mitinbegriffen und wohl nicht
virtuell. Entgegen meinen Erwartungen aber taucht, exim4-daemon-light,
der dem Namen nach ja eine schmälere Version von Exim4 sein soll,
nicht unter Provides: von exim4-daemon-heavy auf.

Den Autoren der FAQ lasse ich also folgendes zukommen:

  Please be clear about what to do in the case of A provides B: For
  example, advise to check the needed disk space for the installation
  of A and for the installation of B. Your hint to install only a part
  of package A is certainly confusing. Only advanced users will know
  how to do this.


Bis zu einer erhellenden Überarbeitung der FAQs dürfen wir "Provides:"
noch als echtes kleines Debian-Mysterien feiern.

compressed archive files inside, this is maybe right. Nevertheless I
regard it as sufficient to say "This script is executed before the
Debian archive (\".deb\") will be unpacked"

Annotation to the authors:
Consider omitting the last part after "until their installation or
upgrade ..." because it is liable confuse readers there. In adddition,
the 'postinst' is explained immediately thereafter.

meines Erachtens auch ganz ignorieren. Denn es hebt auf denselben
Punkt ab wie das "any required", was zum Ausdruck bringt, dass nicht
