Re: Translations of Pacman in manpages-l10n

Hello,

some time ago I imported old French translations of the Pacman tools
(the package management system from Archlinux) and added them to
manpages-l10n. Although 11 years old, some of them even reach the 80%
threshold for Po4a. However, most of the files are too incomplete, and
I'm not able to maintain them because I don't speak French.

Assuming that Debian translators don't want to bother with
Archlinux-only stuff, I asked for help in the French Archlinux forum
[1] and got an answer. Someone is willing to help with completing the
files. But usually translations go through a review process here
(ITT/RFR/LCFC etc.). Unless someone of you is really willing to review
the Pacman manpages, would it be OK for you to skip this process for
Non-Debian translations? Then I would commit the .po files for Jean,
or he gets his own Git access and commits his files, where he is not
allowed to touch other files which don't belong to Pacman (unless he
provides them for review). What do you think?

I completely agree with what you suggest. Ideally Arch could find their own review process for these pages. But from our point of view, I would say that what you propose is perfect: Jean commits or you commit for him non-Debian pages, he does not change other pages except if he uses the classical process here (we can help to do it), and I hope his work may be reviewed for this distro. But clearly, we would not like to handle the Arch review.

Best regards
