Il appartient actuellement au bureau de l'OSI (Open Source Initiative) et
il est chercheur à l'IRILL à Paris.

la publication de la première version Alpha de l'installateur de Debian 9
<q>Stretch</q>. Peu de temps après, la <a

a été publiée en direct de la fête anniversaire de DebConf à Heidelberg, en
Allemagne. Il a envoyé <a href="http://mraw.org/blog/2015/07/22/D-I_Stretch_Alpha_1/";>sur son blog</a>
un rapide résumé des débuts du cycle de développement de l'installateur pour
Stretch, et <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00004.html";>a annoncé </a>
que la migration dans testing des paquets produisant les paquets spéciaux
<tt>udeb</tt> utilisés par l'installateur seraient gelés juste avant la
publication d'une nouvelle version de l'installateur. Il appelle également
les mainteneurs de paquets avec de potentielles modifications pour
l'installateur à se coordonner à travers la liste de diffusion
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot";>debian-boot</a>.

La réunion annuelle des développeurs Debian s'est tenue à Heidelberg, en
Allemagne du 15 au 22 août 2015. Plus de 550 participants à 
<a href="http://debconf15.debconf.org/";>DebConf15</a> ont participé
aux 216 événements programmés, conférences, discussions, ateliers et sessions
de programmation, dont 119 ont été diffusés en direct et enregistrés, et sont
maintenant <a href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/";>disponibles</a>
comme le sont aussi les <a
href="http://annex.debconf.org/debconf-share/debconf15/";>diapositives et les photos</a>. 
L'équipe de DebConf collecte <a
href="https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf15/FinalReport/AttendeeImpressions";>les impressions
des participants </a> ainsi que les <a

<toc-add-entry name="bye-sparc">L'architecture SPARC retirée de l'archive, Squeeze déplacée</toc-add-entry>

Joerg Jaspert <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/07/msg00006.html";>a annoncé</a>
que la prise en charge de l'<a href="$(HOME)/ports/sparc/">architecture SPARC</a>
a été retirée de l'archive officielle. Cette architecture a été introduite
dans <q>Slink</q>, la version 2.1 de Debian.
Andrew Carter partage <a href="http://flosslinuxblog.blogspot.de/2015/07/bye-sparc-for-now.html";>ses souvenirs</a>
sur SPARC dans Debian.

Il a aussi <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00009.html";>annoncé</a>
qu'en raisons de l'espace disque limité sur l'hébergement des miroirs, les
architectures qui n'appartiennent pas à la version LTS de Squeeze ont été
retirées du réseau des miroirs. Squeeze i386/amd64 continuera à être hébergée
sur les miroirs normaux, tandis que la totalité de Squeeze est disponible sur
<a href="https://archive.debian.org/";>archive.debian.org</a>.

Steve McIntyre <a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/08/02#new_debian_uefi_team";>a annoncé</a>
sur son blog la création d'une <a
href="https://alioth.debian.org/projects/uefi/";>équipe UEFI</a> dans
Debian, utilisant le canal IRC <tt>#debian-uefi</tt> récemment ouvert sur
<tt>irc.debian.org</tt>. L'équipe est ouverte à de nouveaux membres
intéressés à contribuer à ces paquets et à UEFI en général.
Steve a aussi rendu compte du lancement d'une
<a href="ttp://blog.einval.com/2015/08/02#tracking_broken_UEFI_implementations">initiative
inter-distribution</a> pour suivre les implémentations cassées d'UEFI.

serveurs personnels basé sur Debian faisant tourner des logiciels libres
pour les communications privées et confidentielles.

Jonathan Wilstshire a envoyé un <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00000.html";>message</a>
sur la manière dont les mainteneurs peuvent contribuer à la transition vers
GCC5 et libstdc++6 que l'on peut suivre sur le 
<a href="https://release.debian.org/transitions/";>système de suivi des transitions</a>.
Ils sont invités à différer leurs envois vers unstable autant que possible à
moins qu'ils soient liés à cette transion - par exemple, correctif d'un échec
de construction à partir des sources avec GCC5, ou d'autres bogues critiques
pour débloquer la migration ou liés aux <a
href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=libstdc%2B%2B-cxx11;users=debian-gcc@lists.debian.org";>transitions
complémentaires de libstdc++</a>.
Ils sont invités à travailler entre temps dans experimental.
Matthias Klose se concentre sur la transition <a

<toc-add-entry name="perl">Brèves des mainteneurs de Perl : la transition vers Perl 5.22</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Niko Tyni <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00010.html";>a annoncé</a>
une transition de Perl vers Perl 5.22. attendue dans les prochains mois. Les
paquets de Perl 5.22 sont dans experimental depuis juin et la liste des points
bloquant est <a
href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=perl-5.22-transition;users=debian-perl@lists.debian.org";>de
plus en plus courte</a>.
Quelques modifications sont intervenues dans l'organisation des paquets
binaires construit à partir de src:perl version 5.22 dans experimental pour
permettre de conserver des versions antérieures libperl5.xx installables, et
pour les marquer Multi-Arch:same afin qu'elles puissent être installables
conjointement pour des architectures multiples. Afin de ne pas augmenter
le nombre de paquets, les parties non-essentielles de la bibliothèque standard
ont été intégrées au paquet libperl5.xx. Comme effet secondaire,
l'installation de libperl5.xx installe désormais toute la bibliothèque
standard de  Perl.

<toc-add-entry name="Buildbit">Brèves de l'équipe Wanna Build : état du service d'empaquetage</toc-add-entry>
<p>
L'<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00007.html";>équipe Wanna
Build s'est réunie</a> pendant le DebCamp et a accueilli Joachim Breitner
comme nouveau membre.
Ils se sont mis rapidement au travail pour rendre les paquets arch:all
constructibles sur leurs serveurs d'empaquetage automatiques et ont rappelé
aux développeurs qu'ils étaient <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-wb-team/";>disponibles</a>
un paquet ne passe pas dans l'archive de <q>ftp-master</q>. L'équipe a
poursuivi son travail pour fusionner buildd.debian-ports.org dans
buildd.debian.org et ont construit un frontal de mise à jour des
<a href="https://buildd.debian.org/status/";>pages de statut Buildd</a>. 

L'équipe s'est également concentré sur les envois basés sur rsync à partir
des démons de construction, a mis à niveau ses serveurs d'empaquetage
automatiques vers Jessie et discuté des archives de paquets pour les membres
du projet. L'équipe projette de travailler sur les dépendances des
constructions croisées, le flux de travail en ce qui concerne la communication
entre les serveurs d'empaquetage, dâ??Å?uvrer pour des serveurs d'empaquetage
sans état. 

L'équipe tient à remercier particulièrement les équipes DSA et ftp-master.

pour aider à trouver, corriger et envoyer des paquets avec des problèmes
signalés par DUCK avant la fin de DebConf15.
Prix, gagnants et scores pour

<p>Gregor Herrmann <a href="http://info.comodo.priv.at/blog/archive/2015/07/";>a rendu compte</a>
des bogues critiques traités début juillet dans le cadre de la transition vers
GCC5, et du travail sur les versions amont du groupe Perl de Debian.</p>

<p>Niels Thykier a travaillé en arrière-plan sur <a href="https://lintian.debian.org/";>Lintian</a>
et a mis en oeuvre des <a 
href="https://nthykier.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/performance-tuning-of-lintian/";>réglages de performances</a>,
et a mis le processus de surveillance des sorties accessible en ligne.
L'ensemble des modifications, telles qu'une augmentation de la taille du
tampon accompagnée de diverses optimisation de la mémoire, a fait baisser
la consommation de la mémoire de 33 %. Un <a
href="https://nthykier.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/performance-tuning-of-lintian-take-2/";>second
réglage</a> porte surtout sur les définitions de champs qui a réduit encore
plus l'utilisation de la mémoire, et, quand il est appliqué, se traduit par
des réductions de taille pour libreoffice et chromium respectivement de 55 %
et 61 %. </p>

<p>John Goerzen s'interroge sur un meilleur stockage des mots de passe avec
des moyens facilement disponibles telle qu'une clé USB ou autre matériel
fiable, ce qui l'amène à rapporter sur son blog ses 
<a href="http://changelog.complete.org/archives/9358-first-steps-with-smartcards-under-linux-and-android-hard-but-it-works";>premiers
pas vers l'utilisation des cartes à puces sous Linux et Android</a>. Il
prolonge cela par un

détaillé des jetons de sécurité chiffrés des cartes à puce</a></p>  

<p>L'équipe des compilations reproductibles est fière de<a
href="https://people.debian.org/~lunar/blog/posts/reproducible_builds_stretch_week_17/";>rendre compte</a>
des plus de 65 paquets corrigés pendant la 17e semaine du cycle de Stretch ;
ils font aussi partager la <a
href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/Stretching_out_for_trustworthy_reproducible_builds_creating_bit_by_bit_identical_binaries.webm";>communication</a>
qu'ils ont présentée à DebConf15 et leur
<href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/Reproducible_builds_roundtable_Discussing_the_changes_needed_for_officially_reproducible_builds.webm";>table ronde</a>.</p>

<p>
<a href="https://www.freexian.com/";>Freexian</a>, le parrain de Debian Long
Term Support (LTS), fait valoir 73,50 heures de travail dans leur
<a href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/07/16/freexians-report-about-debian-long-term-support-june-2015/";>rapport de juin</a>
et 79,50 heures de travail dans celui de <a
href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/08/26/freexians-report-about-debian-long-term-support-july-2015/";>juillet 2015</a>,
réparties dans les deux cas entre sept contributeurs salariés. Dans la liste
des travaux de juillet apparaissent 20 paquets dans l'attente d'un mise à jour
avec environ 22 paquets vulnérables, contre 33 le mois précédent. Pendant

Raphaël Hertzog <a href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/07/31/my-free-software-activities-in-july-2015/";>a rendu compte</a>
des 15 heures de travail subventionnées sur Debian LTS et son saut dans le
futur par son investissement sur Kali Linux / Debian Stretch. Le travail avec
Kali Linux est de paralléliser testing de Debian utilisable en permanence avec
un cycle de version <q>rolling</q> avec un instantané tous les 4 mois pour
3 versions par ans. Les bogues résolus dans la partie de mon travail consacrée
Kali bénéficie à Debian avec des améliorations d'APT, des demandes à l'amont
de pilotes nvidia et la recherche sur un problème de schroot. Dans le reste de
activité, Raphaël a parrainé des paquets, envoyé ses paquets et travaillé sur
Distro Tracker.

<a href="http://carlchenet.com/2015/08/03/my-free-activities-in-july-2015/";>Carl
Chenet</a> a travaillé sur <a
href="https://github.com/chaica/retweet";>Retweet</a>, un bot Twitter qui
renvoit automatiquement les tweets, presque totalement achevé la localisation
du <a href="https://infos.mytux.fr/";>Journal du hacker</a> en français et a
soumis une demande d'intégration de sources supplémentaires dans
planet.sysadmin-fr.org. Carl a aussi travaillé sur des rapports de bogues sur
Dockier.io et Backupchecker.

Antonio Terceiro <a href="http://softwarelivre.org/terceiro/blog/elixir-in-debian-minidebconf-at-fisl-and-debian-ci-updates";>a présenté</a>
Elixir à ses lecteurs et le projet de son utilisation dans Debian ; les
parties interessées sont encouragées à rejoindre le projet ou à rester
connectées au fil #debian-elixir sur on irc.debian.org. Antonio a contribué à
l'organisation d'une <a
href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEvents/br/2015/MiniDebconfFISL";>MiniDebconf</a>
à Porto Alegre qui avait comme objectif d'incorporer de nouveaux participants
à Debian ; il a présenté <q>Qu'est-ce Debian, et comment cela fonctionne</q>
et la fabrication de paquets de logiciels libres. Des vidéos de ses

Antonio contribue aussi à l'organisation d'une autre MiniDebConf en octobre
dans le cadre de <a href="http://latinoware.org/";>Latinoware</a>. Antonio a
aussi travaillé à la transition vers Ruby 2.2 comme version par défaut dans
Debian unstable et a envoyé des mises à jour dans unstable qui sont parvenues
dans testing.

<p>Ritesh Raj Sarraf
<a href="http://www.researchut.com/blog/linux-containers-with-systemd";>évoque sur son blog</a>
quelques-uns des sujets discutés à la réunion des développeurs Debian sur
la compilation croisée, les licences du point de vue des utilisateurs
finaux et SystemD. Les groupes conteneurs ont pris une bonne partie du
temps de discussion compte tenu de la manière dont ils fonctionnent dans
systemd. Il fait part d'un exemple d'utilisation de systemd-nspawn à la
place de <q>Linux Containers</q> (LXC).</p>

Stefano Zacchiroli received an
<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Reilly_Open_Source_Award#2015";>O'Reilly
Open Source Award</a>
at OSCON for his contributions to Debian and the FOSS community.
Stefano served as Debian Project Leader (DPL) for three years.
He currently serves on the board of the Open Source Initiative and is a
researcher at IRILL in Paris.

Cyril Brulebois

that the first Alpha version of the installer for Debian 9 <q>Stretch</q>
had been released. Shortly afterward the <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00005.html";>second version</a>
was released live from the DebConf Birthday Party in Heidelberg, Germany. He posted <a
href="http://mraw.org/blog/2015/07/22/D-I_Stretch_Alpha_1/";>on his blog</a>
a quick recap of the beginning of the development cycle of the installer for Stretch, and <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00004.html";>announced</a>
that the migration to testing of packages producing the special <tt>udeb</tt>
packages used by the installer would be frozen just before the release of
a new version of the installer. He also asks the maintainers of packages
with potential changes to the installer for coordination through the
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot";>debian-boot</a> mailing list.

<p>
The annual Debian developer meeting took place in Heidelberg, Germany, 15
to 22 August 2015. More than 550
<a href="http://debconf15.debconf.org/";>DebConf15</a> attendees participated
in the 216 scheduled events, talks, discussions, workshops, and programming
sessions, of which 119 were streamed and recorded, and are now
<a href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/";>available
for viewing</a>, as are
<a href="http://annex.debconf.org/debconf-share/debconf15/";>the slides and
 photos</a>. DebConf team is collecting <a
href="https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf15/FinalReport/AttendeeImpressions";>impressions
from attendees </a> as well as <a
href="https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf15/PressCoverage";>links to press
articles</a> so that you can see how intensive and fruitful this
<q>amazing</q> conference was, as the <a

<toc-add-entry name="bye-squeeze-sparc">Archive changes: SPARC architecture removed from the archive, Squeeze moved</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Joerg Jaspert <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/07/msg00006.html";>announced</a>
that support for the <a href="$(HOME)/ports/sparc/">SPARC architecture</a>
has been removed from the official archive.
The support of SPARC was introduced with Debian 2.1 <q>Slink</q>.
Andrew Carter shared <a href="http://flosslinuxblog.blogspot.de/2015/07/bye-sparc-for-now.html";>his memories</a>
of SPARC in Debian.

He also <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00009.html";>announced</a>
that due to disk space limitations on mirror hosts, the non-LTS   
architectures of Squeeze were removed from the mirror network. Squeeze i386/amd64 
will continue to be hosted on the normal mirrors, while the whole of Squeeze is 
available at <a href="https://archive.debian.org/";>archive.debian.org</a>.

<p>
Steve McIntyre <a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/08/02#new_debian_uefi_team";>announced</a>
on his blog the creation of a
<a href="https://alioth.debian.org/projects/uefi/";>UEFI team</a> in Debian,
using the freshly opened <tt>#debian-uefi</tt> IRC channel on
<tt>irc.debian.org</tt>. The team is welcoming new members interested in
helping with these packages and UEFI in general.
Steve also reported the beginning of a
<a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/08/02#tracking_broken_UEFI_implementations";>cross-distribution
effort</a> to track broken UEFI implementations. If you have a particular UEFI
horror story, add details to
<a href="http://wiki.osdev.org/Broken_UEFI_implementations";>the dedicated wiki
page</a>.

<p>
James Valleroy

the release of FreedomBox version 0.5. The
<a href="https://freedomboxfoundation.org/";>FreedomBox Project</a>
is a community effort to develop, design, and promote personal servers
based on Debian running free software for private personal communications.

<toc-add-entry name="gcc5">Bits from the release Team: GCC5 as default, transition thereof</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Jonathan Wiltshire sent a <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00000.html";>message</a>
about the way package maintainers can help the transition to GCC5 and
libstdc++6, which can be tracked on the 
<a href="https://release.debian.org/transitions/";>transition tracker</a>. They
are asked to defer uploads to unstable where possible, unless they are
related to this transition - for example, fixing a FTBFS with GCC5, or other
RC bugs to unblock migration, or related to the <a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=libstdc%2B%2B-cxx11;users=debian-gcc@lists.debian.org";>libstdc++ follow-up transitions</a>.
They are welcome to work in experimental in the meantime.
Matthias Klose focused on the transition <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00002.html";>for
the libstdc++6 ABI</a> with an emphasis on what should be done, or not!

<toc-add-entry name="perl">Bits from Perl maintainers: Transition to Perl 5.22</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Niko Tyni <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00010.html";>announced</a> a Perl transition to Perl 5.22, expected in the
next couple of months. Perl 5.22 packages have been in experimental since
June, and the list of blockers is <a
href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=perl-5.22-transition;users=debian-perl@lists.debian.org";>getting shorter</a>.
Some changes occurred in the organisation of the binary packages built from
src:perl version 5.22 in experimental to allow for keeping older versions of
libperl5.xx installable, and for marking them Multi-Arch:same so that they
can be co-installed for multiple architectures. In order not to increase the
number of packages, the non-essential parts of the standard library have been
integrated into the libperl5.xx package. As a side effect, installing
libperl5.xx now installs the full Perl standard library.

<toc-add-entry name="Buildbit">Bits from the Wanna Build team: Buildd status</toc-add-entry>
<p>
The <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/08/msg00007.html";>Wanna
Build team met</a> at DebCamp welcoming Joachim Breitner as a new member.   
They quickly got to work on getting arch:all packages buildable with their 
autobuilders, and they remind developers that they are <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-wb-team/";>available</a> if a package
does not make it through the ftp-master archive. The team continuted work on 
merging buildd.debian-ports.org into buildd.debian.org, and did a front end 
update to the <a href="https://buildd.debian.org/status/";>buildd status pages</a>. 

The team also focused on rsync based uploads from the buildds, upgraded their 
autobuilders to Jessie and discussed package archives for project members.  The 
team plans to work on cross build dependencies, workflow regarding communication
between the autobuilders, and working toward stateless autobuilders. 

The team gives special thanks to the DSA and ftp-master teams.

and updated the weekly <a href="http://duck.debian.net/";>DUCK</a> challenge
to help find, fix, and upload packages with DUCK issues before the end of DebConf15.
Prizes and notoriety aside, the tallies for
<a href="http://blog.familiekainz.at/duck-challenge-week-1.html";>Week 1</a>:
10 fixes and uploads.
<a href="http://blog.familiekainz.at/duck-challenge-week-2.html";>Week 2</a>:
15 fixes and uploads. 
<a href="http://blog.familiekainz.at/duck-challenge-week-3.html";>Week 3</a>:
10 fixes and uploads, with an impressive pause to acknowledge 35 packages
by 25 different people thus far.
<a href="http://blog.familiekainz.at/duck-challenge-week-4.html";>Week 4</a>:
14 fixes and uploads.

<p>Gregor Herrmann <a href="http://info.comodo.priv.at/blog/archive/2015/07/";>reported</a>
on RC bugs worked on in early July as part of the   
GCC5 transition, and work with the Debian Perl Group's upstream releases.</p>

<p>Niels Thykier worked in the background on <a href="https://lintian.debian.org/";>Lintian</a> and applied some <a
href="https://nthykier.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/performance-tuning-of-lintian/";>performance
tuning</a>, with the output monitoring process being made available
on-line. The set of changes, such as an increase in buffer size, along
with various memory optimisations, brought memory
consumption down 33%. A <a
href="https://nthykier.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/performance-tuning-of-lintian-take-2/";>second
tuning</a> concentrated on field definitions which  
further reduced memory use and when applied saw reductions in size for 
libreoffice and chromium at 55% and 61% respectively. </p>

<p>John Goerzen wondered about better password storage with readily available means 
such as a USB stick or other secure hardware, which led him to blog about his 
<a href="http://changelog.complete.org/archives/9358-first-steps-with-smartcards-under-linux-and-android-hard-but-it-works";>first
steps with smartcards under Linux and Android</a>. He followed this with a
<a href="http://changelog.complete.org/archives/9381-detailed-smart-card-cryptographic-token-security-guide";>Detailed
Smart Card Cryptographic Token Security Guide</a>.</p>  

<p>The Reproducible Builds team is proud to <a
href="https://people.debian.org/~lunar/blog/posts/reproducible_builds_stretch_week_17/";>report</a>
on over 65 packages fixed in the 17th week of the Stretch cycle; they also share their <a
href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/Stretching_out_for_trustworthy_reproducible_builds_creating_bit_by_bit_identical_binaries.webm";>talk</a>
given at DebConf15 and their
<href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/debconf15/Reproducible_builds_roundtable_Discussing_the_changes_needed_for_officially_reproducible_builds.webm";>roundtable</a>.</p>

<p>
<a href="https://www.freexian.com/";>Freexian</a>, sponsor of Debian Long Term Support (LTS), highlighted
73.50 work hours in their <a href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/07/16/freexians-report-about-debian-long-term-support-june-2015/";>June report</a>
and 79.50 work hours in their <a
href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/08/26/freexians-report-about-debian-long-term-support-july-2015/";>July
2015 report</a>, spread in each case among 7 paid
contributors. July's work listed 20 packages awaiting an update with about 22 
packages in a vulnerable state, down from 33 the previous month. During DebConf15
LTS was featured in a talk, and video is available of two presentations:

Raphaël Hertzog <a href="https://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/07/31/my-free-software-activities-in-july-2015/";>reported</a> on 15 hours of paid support working on Debian LTS and 
his jump ahead to the future to work on Kali Linux / Debian Stretch. The work 
with Kali Linux is to parallel Debian Constantly Usable Testing with a rolling 
release cycle and snapshot for every 4 months toward 3 releases per year. Bugs 
closed on the Kali side of work benefited Debian with improvements to APT, 
upstream requests for nvidia drivers, and the investigation of a schroot 
issue.   In his other time Raphael sponsored packages, uploaded his own
packages, and worked on the Distro Tracker.

<a href="http://carlchenet.com/2015/08/03/my-free-activities-in-july-2015/";>Carl
Chenet</a> worked on <a
href="https://github.com/chaica/retweet";>Retweet</a>, a Twitter bot that automatically
re-tweets posts, nearly completed the full localisation of 
<a href="https://infos.mytux.fr/";>Le Journal du hacker</a> into
French, and submitted a pull request for additional sources for
planet.sysadmin-fr.org. Carl also worked on several bug reports for 
Dockier.io and Backupchecker.
</p>

Antonio Terceiro <a href="http://softwarelivre.org/terceiro/blog/elixir-in-debian-minidebconf-at-fisl-and-debian-ci-updates";>introduced</a>
his readers to Elixir and plans for its use in
Debian; interested parties are encouraged to join or hang around in #debian-elixir
on irc.debian.org. Antonio helped organise a <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEvents/br/2015/MiniDebconfFISL";>MiniDebconf</a> in
Porto Alegre which targeted bringing more participants into Debian; he spoke 
about <q>What is Debian, and how it works</q> and packaging free software. Videos of
his talks are available <a href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2015/mini-debconf-fisl/";>here</a>.
Antonio is also helping to organise 
another MiniDebConf in October as part of <a href="http://latinoware.org/";>Latinoware</a>. Antonio also worked on the 
transition to Ruby 2.2 as the default in Debian unstable, and uploaded 
updates to unstable which reached testing.

<p>Ritesh Raj Sarraf <a href="http://www.researchut.com/blog/linux-containers-with-systemd";>blogged</a> on a few topics discussed at a Micro Debian Developers
meeting regarding cross compilation, licensing from the point of view of the
end user, and systemd. Container groups held a fair amount of discussion time
in consideration of how they work within systemd. He shares an example of
using systemd-nspawn as a replacement for Linux Containers (LXC).</p>
