L'extension de Chromium permet aux utilisateurs d'éditer debsources sans avoir

Depuis la fermeture de Google Code Search en janvier 2012, les développeurs de
logiciels à source ouverte (FLOSS) ont perdu un outil inestimable pour coder.
Michael Stapelberg a développé
<a href="http://codesearch.debian.net/";>« Debian Code Search »</a>
et l'a lancé en novembre 2012. Debian Code Search fournit aux développeurs
Debian et du logiciel libre un moteur de recherche de code source de plus de
129Â Go de logiciels libres actuellement disponibles dans Debian, que l'on peut
rechercher avec des expressions régulières.

Récemment une nouvelle version de Debian Code Search a été lancée. Michael
Stapelberg

barre de progression. Les nouveaux paquets chargés dans Debian sont accessibles
dans Debian Code Search entre quelques minutes et une heure après, alors qu'il

vers une prise en charge amélioré de l'UEFI pour Debian Jessie. En
collaboration avec les développeurs de Grub, Steve continue à travailler dur Ã
la résolution des bogues. Il reconnaît sans hésiter que davantage de travail
est nécessaire, surtout avec UEFI i386 et les Mac Intel 32 bits. Steve est Ã
la recherche de personnes qui puissent tester UEFI 32Â bits, tandis qu'il
travaille avec les autres développeurs à la préparation de la publication de
Jessie.

Une résolution générale a été soumise au vote des membres de Debian, sur la
<a href="$(HOME)/vote/2014/vote_004">durée du mandat des membres du Comité technique</a>.
Le <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/12/msg00010.html";>vote</>
est ouvert jusqu'au 8Â janvier, 23:59Â UTC.</p>
Il s'agit d'un vote pour modifier la <a href="$(HOME)/devel/constitution">Constitution Debian.</a>
Les deux propositions sont similaires et créent toutes les deux des limites Ã
la durée du mandat des membres du Comité technique. Les propositions diffèrent
dans la manière dont elles traitent le départ de deux ou plus membres du comité
la même année. La première propose mettre une limite ferme aux mandats Ã
3 ans et demi, tandis que la deuxième suggère un mécanisme pour une limite
souples de 4Â ans et demi, en gardant la trace des plus anciens membres du
comité. La <a href="https://www.debian.org/vote/howto_follow";>Procédure pour
les résolutions standards</a> présidera au processus de vote.

Le <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/12/11/freexians-fourth-report-about-debian-long-term-support/";>quatrième compte-rendu de Freexian sur Long Term Support</a> Debian est paru.

<p>
Au mois de novembre 2014, il y a eu 42,5 heures de travail allouées au projet
LTS.
</p>
<p>
L'allocation mensuelle de 45,7 heures n'a pas cru et, Ã l'heure qu'il est, des
discussions sont en cours pour attirer plus de parrains et s'étendre à quelques
sociétés qui ont annoncés leur volonté de contribuer. L'objectif global de
financement est de pouvoir financer l'équivalent d'un
<a href="http://www.freexian.com/services/debian-lts.html";>mi-temps</a>.
Si votre entreprise peut apporter son soutien, veuillez contribuer à cet effort.

Freexian avait évoqué précédemment la possibilité de recruter de nouveaux
contributeurs salariés dans l'équipe pour mieux partager la charge de travail
et, à cette fin, a étendu son offre à Ben Hutchings et Mike Gabriel qui ont
tous les deux accepté.

Thorsten Alteholz a été salarié 14,25 heures pour travailler pour LTS et il
s'est concentré sur de nouvelles versions de curl, imagemagick et wget parmi
d'autres paquets. Il
<a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/11/my-debian-activities-in-november-2014/";>se demande</a>
aussi pourquoi les utilisateurs de LTS semblent être si rares quand il faut
tester les versions avant de les verser dans l'archive, mais par contre ont
l'air nombreux quand des plaintes s'élèvent après un téléchargement.

Raphaël Hertzog a travaillé
<a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/12/02/my-free-software-activities-in-november-2014/";>18 heures pour LTS</a>
notamment sur le tri des CVE avec 19 envois sur le gestionnaire de sécurité et
des mises à jour de sécurité pour dbus, libgcrypt11 et openjdk-6.
Une bonne partie du temps a été consacré à la mise à jour du noyau vers la
version amont 2.6.32.64, avec l'intégration de nouveaux correctifs et le
retrait de certains anciens. Le correctif du noyau <i>saveur openvz</i> a
demandé pas mal d'ajustement et de résolution manuelle de conflits. Raphaël
s'est adressé à Ben Hutchings pour lui demander de rejoindre le projet comme
contributeur salarié de LTS pour s'occuper du noyau, ce que Ben a accepté.
Avant l'implication de Ben aucune mise à jour du noyau n'avait été réalisée
dans Squeeze depuis juillet ; cela va changer maintenant qu'il y a quelqu'un
dédié à cette tâche et à la traiter comme une priorité. Merci Ben !

<p>
Le <a href="http://layer-acht.org/thinking/blog/20141201-lts-november-2014/";>travail pour LTS en novembre</a>
de Holger Levsen s'est focalisé sur les mises à jour de sécurité de ruby1.8,
tomcat6 et tomcat-native. Il évoque aussi le nouveau contributeur à l'équipe
du projet et de l'identification d'un problème dans le correctif lié à openvz.

<p>
Nous rappelons à nos lecteurs que le projet LTS ont besoin de soutien, de
testeurs, de dons et d'aide pour poursuivre cette entreprise. Veuillez

Actuellement, des <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts/2014/11/msg00038.html";>tests
du noyau amont 2.6.32.64</a> sont demandés.

L'état de la sécurité de LTS s'améliore avec 27 paquets en attente de mises Ã
jour de sécurité, avec une liste de 58 vulnérabilités au total ouvertes dans
Squeeze. Le retard se réduit lentement et des solutions sont en vue pour les
problèmes de POODLE avec SSLv3.

Enrico Zini <a herf="http://www.enricozini.org/2014/cxx11-talk-examples/";>a fait partager des exemples</a>
d'une communication qu'il a faite sur C++ et les nouvelles fonctionnalités
introduites dans C++11. Il détaille le travaille avec les interfaces
d'enveloppe, les bibliothèques d'exception et les opérateurs de cast qui
peuvent être passés de façon transparente aux bibliothèquex sous-jacentes. Il a
aussi posté les notes de sa <a herf="http://www.enricozini.org/2014/cxx11-talk-notes/";>communication</a>
qui comprennent le travail avec les outils essentiels, des conseils, des
fonctions et de nombreux exemples.
</p>
<p>
Enrico note aussi que les utilisateurs devront avoir au moins g++Â 4.8 ou
clang 3.3 pour bénéficier de la prise en charge complète de C++11. Tous les
deux seront disponibles dans Jessie, et les utilisateurs de Wheezy peuvent
utiliser le dépôt de paquets en développement de clang.

Niels Thykier <a href="http://nthykier.wordpress.com/2014/12/08/jessie-has-half-the-number-of-rc-bugs-compared-to-wheezy/";>a récemment écrit sur son blog</a>
qu'au 8 décembre, Jessie avait la moitié du nombre de bogues critiques comparé
à Wheezy, et poursuit avec un lien vers le
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/";>graphique des statistiques des bogues critiques</a>
qui donne aussi un historique des données.

Richard Hartmann <a href="http://richardhartmann.de/blog/posts/2014/12/19-Debian_Release_Critical_Bug_report_for_Week_51/";>met à jour</a>
le compte-rendu des bogues critiques pour la semaine 51. L'interface des bogues
montre <a href="http://udd.debian.org/bugs.cgi?release=any&merged=ign&rc=1&chints=1&cdeferred=1&crttags=1";>>1Â 095</a>
bogues critiques dont 189 affectent directement Jessie. Nous devons réduire ce
chiffre à zéro avant la publication.

de Lucas Nussbaum sur notre capacité à publier Jessie avant l'ouverture du
FOSDEM 15.

<toc-add-entry name="WDYD">Les questions des Nouvelles du projet Debian : commissaires aux comptes, que faites-vous ?</toc-add-entry>

<a href="https://www.debian.org/";>Debian</a> est une grande communauté globale formée de
beaucoup de petits acteurs, projets ou équipes. Ce mois-ci, dans le cadre
d'une démarche particulière, nous aimerions partager avec vous des
informations sur un projet ou une équipe qui travaille dans Debian et que l'on
peut ignorer.
</p>
<p>
� la lecture de la <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Auditor";>page wiki de l'équipe des commissairs au compte de Debian</a>,
qui dresse la liste des responsabilités et des obligations de l'équipe, on peut
se demander comment une équipe aussi occupée peut sembler échapper au radar.

<p>
Nous avons demandé quelques éclaircissements à l'équipe de commissaires aux
comptes et Brian Gupta nous répond :

<q>Historiquement, l'équipe de commissaires aux comptes était seulement
responsable des comptes et du suivi des ressources.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Actuellement, les responsabilités de l'équipe sont en plein développement
pour inclure l'aide au suivi par le chef du projet des demandes de
remboursement, du travail avec les organismes habilités et prendre part au
financement général du projet.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Dans la mesure où Debian n'a pas d'équipe dédiée à la collecte de fonds,
nous avons aidé à la coordination du financement, notamment tout récemment au
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2014/10/msg00011.html";>financement
de la participation de Debian au programme d'ouverture aux femmes</a>. Cela
complète le travail de l'équipe de collecte de fonds pour DebConf à laquelle
certains d'entre nous participent.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Nous apportons aussi notre aide pour faciliter les <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DPL/Reimbursement";>remboursements</a> des diverses dépenses que le chef
du projet Debian approuve comme les <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Sprints";>sprints</a>,
les <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/BSP";>chasses aux bogues</a> et les
minidebconf. Nous aidons aussi au suivi des dépenses de matériel.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>J'ai personnellement travaillé avec Paul Wise pour rationaliser la page des
dons, l'apport de Paul à cette entreprise a été précieux et vous pouvez
constater le résultat sur la <a href="https://www.debian.org/donations";>nouvelle
page consacrée aux dons</a>.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Ceci dit, je pense que le nom d'équipe de « commissaires aux comptes » peut
être un terme inapproprié, et peut-être le nom d'équipe « des finances » serait
plus approprié, en considérant qu'il ne s'agit que d'un nom et que toutes les
ressources de Debian ne sont pas financières.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Une autre tâche à laquelle nous nous sommes consacrés, est le travail avec
<a href="http://www.spi-inc.org/";>« Software in the Public Interest »</a> (SPI)
pour lui permettre de recevoir des dons avec Paypal. Cela devrait être possible
prochainement.</q>
</p>

<q>Je crois qu'avec le temps, l'équipe de commissaire aux comptes ou de finance
travaillera de plus en plus étroitement avec les
<a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DPL/TrustedOrganizationCriteria";>organismes habilités</a>.
Il y a déjà deux membres de l'équipe des commissaires aux comptes, Philip Hug
du conseil de Debian.ch et Martin Michlmayr du conseil de SPI, qui sont aussi
membre du conseil des organismes habilités.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Notre équipe peut vraiment être aidée. En particulier, nous pouvons être
aidé pour améliorer le processus de remboursement, parce que c'est actuellement
un travail manuel trop consommateur de temps et il ne semble pas qu'il y ait
beaucoup d'outils libres évidents pour simplifier le processus et que les
membres actuels de l'équipe ait le temps de s'attaquer à ce problème.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>En plus, nous avons besoin de quelqu'un qui ait le temps et la compétence
pour nous aider à installer et gérer un système CRM pour coordonner les efforts
de collecte de fonds à la fois pour Debian en tant que telle et pour DebConf.
(Probablement CiviCRM, mais ce n'est pas complètement figé.)

Inspired by GitHub's online code editing and Stefano Zacchiroli's presentation at Debconf14,

announced an integrated online editor</a>
for <a href="http://sources.debian.net/";>debsources</a>. The Chromium
extension allows users to edit debsources without having to download source packages and without leaving their
browser.

<toc-add-entry name="DCS">Debian Code Search</toc-add-entry>
<p>
With the shutdown of Google Code Search in January 2012, Open Source
(FLOSS) software developers lost a valuable coding tool. Michael Stapelberg
developed <a href="http://codesearch.debian.net/";>Debian Code Search</a>, and
launched it in November 2012. Debian Code Search provides Debian
and FLOSS developers with a source-code search engine for over 129 GiB of FLOSS software
currently available in Debian, searchable using regular expressions.
</p>
<p>
Recently a new version of Debian Code Search has been launched.
Michael Stapelberg
<a
href="https://people.debian.org/~stapelberg/2014/12/23/code-search-taming-the-latency-tail.html";>blogged
highlighting several improvements</a>,
including grouping search results by
Debian source package. The top ten search results are available almost
immediately while the query continues, as indicated with a new progress bar.
Packages that are uploaded to Debian become searchable in Debian Code Search
in a couple of minutes or within the hour, instead of taking up to a week. Users
will find that the new Debian Code Search site has a modern user interface
providing for cleaner search results achieved through CSS animations.

<toc-add-entry name="UEFI">UEFI Support in Jessie</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Steve McIntyre
<a href="http://blog.einval.com/2014/11/20#Jessie-EFI";>updated his blog</a>
explaining progress toward improved UEFI support for Debian Jessie.
In collaboration with the Grub developers, Steve continues to work hard squashing
bugs. He readily recognizes much more work is needed, especially with i386
UEFI and 32-bit Intel Macs. Steve is reaching out to those that can test
32-bit UEFI, as he and other developers work hard in preparation for Jessie's
release.

<toc-add-entry name="grtc">Technical Committee Term Limits</toc-add-entry>
<p>
A General Resolution has been submitted for a vote by Debian Members
regarding <a href="$(HOME)/vote/2014/vote_004">the term of Technical Committee Members</a>.
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/12/msg00010.html";>Voting</a>
remains open until January 8, 23:59 UTC.</p>
This is a vote to change the <a href="$(HOME)/devel/constitution">Debian Constitution.</a>
The two proposals are similar, both creating term limits for technical committee members. The
proposals differ in how they handle two or more committee members leaving within
the same year. The first proposes to set a hard term limit at 3.5 years, while
the second suggests a mechanism for a soft limit of 4.5 years, keeping
track of the most senior committee members.
<a href="$(HOME)/vote/howto_follow">Standard Resolution Procedure</a> will govern the voting process.

<toc-add-entry name="4th_LTS">Debian Long Term Support and Freexian's 4th report</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Freexian's <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/12/11/freexians-fourth-report-about-debian-long-term-support/";>fourth report on Debian Long Term Support</a> was released.
</p>
<p>
For the month of November 2014, 42.5 work hours were allotted towards the LTS
project.
</p>
<p>
The monthly allotment of 45.7 hours has not increased and at this time talks
are underway to attract more sponsors and reach out to some companies who have
announced their willingness to contribute. The overall goal of the funding is to
be able to fund the equivalent of a <a href="http://www.freexian.com/services/debian-lts.html";>half time position</a>. If your company is able to
help, please contribute towards this effort.
</p>
<p>
Freexian had previously mentioned the possibility of recruiting more paid
contributors to the pool to better share the workload, and to that end, extended
offers to Ben Hutchings and Mike Gabriel who both accepted.
</p>
<p>
Thorsten Alteholz worked 14.25 hours of paid LTS work and focused on new
versions of curl, imagemagick, and wget among other packages. He also <a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/11/my-debian-activities-in-november-2014/";>wonders</a>
why LTS users seem to be scant when needed to test releases before they move
to the archive, but seem numerous when complaints arise about an upload.
</p>
<p>
Raphael Hertzog did <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/12/02/my-free-software-activities-in-november-2014/";>18
hours of paid LTS support</a>, including CVE triage with 19Â commits to the security tracker, and
updates to dbus, libgcrypt11, and openjdk-6 security.
A fair amount of time was allotted to updating the kernel to upstream 2.6.32.64,
with the integration of new patches and the removal of some old ones. The
<q>openvz flavour</q> kernel patch required quite a bit of tweaking and manual conflict resolution.
Raphael reached out to Ben Hutchings asking him to join the project as a paid
LTS contributor to take care of the kernel, which Ben accepted. Prior to
Ben's involvement no kernel updates had been performed in Squeeze since July;
this will change now as there is someone dedicated and able to handle it as a
priority. Thank you Ben!

<p>
Holger Levsen's <a href="http://layer-acht.org/thinking/blog/20141201-lts-november-2014/";>LTS
work for November</a> focused on security updates for ruby1.8,
tomcat6, and tomcat-native. He also wrote about the newest contributor to the
team effort and the work to identify a problem in the openvz patch.
</p>
<p>
Readers are reminded that the LTS project needs support, testers, donations and
help to continue this effort. Please see the <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts/";>LTS mailing list</a> for additional details.
Testers are currently needed for <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts/2014/11/msg00038.html";>the upstream 2.6.32.64 kernel</a>.

<p>
The security situation in LTS improved with 27 packages awaiting a security
update, with the list of open vulnerabilites in Squeeze showing 58 in total.
The backlog is slowly being reduced and solutions are being sought for
the SSLv3 POODLE issue.

<toc-add-entry name="C++">C++11 talk, notes, and use in Jessie</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Enrico Zini <a href="http://www.enricozini.org/2014/cxx11-talk-examples/";>shared examples</a> from a talk he gave about C++ and new
features introduced with C++11. He details working with wrapper interfaces,
library exceptions, and cast operators which can be transparently passed to the
underlying libraries. He also posted his <a href="http://www.enricozini.org/2014/cxx11-talk-notes/";>talk notes</a> which include working
with essential tools, tips, functions and many examples.
</p>
<p>
Enrico also notes that users will need at least g++ 4.8 or clang 3.3 to have
full C++11 support. Both will be available in Jessie; Wheezy users can use the
nightly clang packages repository.

<p>
Niels Thykier <a href="http://nthykier.wordpress.com/2014/12/08/jessie-has-half-the-number-of-rc-bugs-compared-to-wheezy/";>blogged</a> that as of Dec 8, Jessie had half the number
of Release-Critical bugs compared to Wheezy. He followed up with a link to the
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/";>RC critical bug stats graph</a>, which also shows historical data.
</p>
<p>
Richard Hartmann <a href="http://richardhartmann.de/blog/posts/2014/12/19-Debian_Release_Critical_Bug_report_for_Week_51/";>updated</a>
the Release Critical Bug report for Week 51. The
bugs interface shows <a href="http://udd.debian.org/bugs.cgi?release=any&merged=ign&rc=1&chints=1&cdeferred=1&crttags=1";>1,095</a>
RC bugs of which 189 directly affect Jessie. We will need to get that number to zero before the release.
<a href="http://udd.debian.org/bugs.cgi?release=jessie_not_sid&merged=ign&fnewerval=7&rc=1&sortby=id&sorto=asc&chints=1&ctags=1&cdeferred=1&crttags=1&chints=1&cdeferred=1&crttags=1";>55</a>
bugs in unstable have been fixed and need to migrate to Jessie. Users are
encouraged to investigate and submit unblock requests for those packages. This
came on the heels of Lucas Nussbaum <a href="http://www.lucas-nussbaum.net/blog/?p=854";>wondering</a> if we could release Jessie
before the opening of FOSDEM 15.

<toc-add-entry name="WDYD">DPN asks: Auditors, What do you do?</toc-add-entry>
<p>
<a href="$(HOME)">Debian</a> is a large and global community of a lot of small actors, projects, and
teams. This month as part of a special feature we'd like to share with you
something about a project or a team that is working in Debian that you
may not be aware of.
</p>
<p>
When reading the <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Auditor";>Debian Auditor team's Wiki page</a>, which lists the
responsibilities and duties of the team, one must wonder how such a busy
team seems to stay just under the radar.
<p>
We asked the auditing team for a bit of insight; Brian Gupta responds:
</p>
<p>
<q>Historically the auditor team was only responsible for accounting and
asset tracking.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Currently the team's responsibilities are in the process of expanding to
also include helping the DPL track reimbursement requests, working
with Trusted Organizations, and taking point in overall project fundraising.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Since Debian doesn't have a dedicated general fund raising team, we've
been helping coordinate fund-raising, most recently help <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2014/10/msg00011.html";>fund Debian's
participation in the Outreach Program for Women</a>. This complements
the work of the DebConf fundraising team, which we share some team
members with.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>We've also helped to facilitate <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DPL/Reimbursement";>reimbursements</a> for various expenses
that the Debian Project Leader approves such as <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Sprints";>Sprints</a>, <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/BSP";>Bug Squashing Parties</a>,
and the miniconfs. We also help track Hardware expenses.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>I personally have been working along with Paul Wise to streamline the
donations page, Paul has been invaluable in this effort and you can see
the efforts on <a href="$(HOME)/donations">the new Donations page</a>.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>That said, I think that the name <q>auditor</q> team may be a misnomer, and
perhaps <q>finance</q> team would be better, with the understanding that it
is just a name, and all of Debian's assets aren't financial.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Another task that we've been working on, is working with <a href="http://www.spi-inc.org/";>Software in the Public Interest</a> (SPI)
to enable them to accept Paypal donations. This
should be done soon.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>I suspect over time, that the auditor/finance team will work more and
more closely with our <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DPL/TrustedOrganizationCriteria";>Trusted Organizations</a>. We already have two
auditor team members, Philip Hug on the Debian.ch board and Martin
Michlmayr on the SPI board, that are also Trusted Organization board
members.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>Our team can really use help. In particular, we can really use help
improving the reimbursement workflow, as this is currently an overly
time consuming manual process and there doesn't seem to be many
obvious Free Software tools to help streamline this process, nor do the
current team members have the time to tackle this.</q>
</p>
<p>
<q>In addition, we also need someone who has time and skills to help us
implement and manage a CRM system to coordinate fundraising
efforts for both Debian as a whole, as well as DebConf fundraising.
(Likely CiviCRM, but that's not set in stone.)
</q>
</p>
