Thanks to Cédric, we just finished the last bits for the latest issue of
the Debian Project News. We would appreciate reviews and translations.

<toc-add-entry name="pointrelease">Update for Debian 6.0: 6.0.6 released</toc-add-entry>

<p>
The sixth <a href="$(HOME)/News/2012/20120929">update for
Debian 6.0 (codenamed <q>Squeeze</q>)</a> has been released. This update
mainly adds corrections of security problems to the stable release,
along with some adjustments for serious problems.
</p>


<toc-add-entry name="BSP">Reports from the last BSPs</toc-add-entry>

<p>
The <a href="http://beta.howtorecognise.mine.nu/blog/Dublin_BSP.html";>bug
squashing party held in Dublin</a> on Saturday, 8 September,
was hosted on Google office space and gathered 15 people.
It triggered the bootstrap of a local Debian community and the envy to
hold a second one on October on top of acting on Release-Critical bugs.
The following weekend, another
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-events-eu/2012/09/msg00008.html";>bug
squashing party held in Berlin</a> gathered approximately 25 people who also
worked on German translations on top of acting on Release-Critical bugs.

<toc-add-entry name="gsoc">Results from Debian's Google Summer of Code</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Ana Guerrero sent a
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/09/msg00011.html";>report
about Debian's Google Summer of Code</a>. Debian has been participating in the
Google Summer of Code since 2006, and proposed this year 15 projects, among which 12
finished successfully.

Students supervised by Debian mentors worked on various aspects of the project:
improvements of mentors.debian.net, development of multi-arch cross-toolchains,
metrics of team activities, just to name a few. Some of these results are
already included in Debian.

The Debian project thanks the persons who took part in it, and especially the
students for their contributions, and invites them to continue being involved
in making Debian better.

<toc-add-entry name="mini-debconf">Mini DebConf in Paris</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Sylvestre Ledru, on the behalf of the
<a href="http://france.debian.net/";>organization team</a>, announced that
the <a href="http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/Miniconf-Paris/2012";>second
Mini DebConf in Paris</a> will take place on 24 and 25 November
and will be hosted by <a href="http://epita.fr/";>EPITA</a>. His
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/09/msg00009.html";>message</a>
mentions that a BSP will take place the during the entire event,
and that they're currently soliciting talks for the event.
</p>

        <p>There has been a

Since the <a href="http://cia.vc/";>CIA service</a>
is now dead, Martín Ferrari proposed to
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2012/09/msg00057.html";>use
the KGB</a> one to monitor the <acronym lang="en"
title="version control system">VCS</acronym> repositories on IRC.
</p>

<p>
Ansgar Burchardt, on behalf of the FTP team, announced some
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/09/msg00008.html";>changes
to the Debian Maintainer upload permissions</a>: the new interface replaces
the old DMUA field, that will stop working on the 24 November 2012.
</p>
