Template: middleman/login
Type: string
Description: What is the login to authenticate with middleman ?
For security reason, a login and a password are needed to authenticate with
middleman because it can be administered via a web interface by browsing this
 URL: http://mman.
If you keep the login and password fields empty, any user of your system can
access middleman configuration. This is a high security risk.
The login and the password you are supplying can be read by any user of the
system group 'proxy'. So please don't give sensible values like the root
password of your system for example.

Template: middleman/port
Type: string
Default: 8080
Description: Which port number should middleman listen to ?
The default configuration of middleman makes it only listen to IP address
127.0.0.1 (also known as localhost) for security reason.
You must now enter the TCP port on which middleman will be listening to.
Good choices are 8080 and 3128.

.SH CONFIGURATION
Once you have specified in your browser proxy configuration that how to connect
to the \fBmiddleman\fP proxy, \fBmiddleman\fP can be configured with a web
interface by browsing this URL: http://mman.
.PP
When you install the Debian package, a login and a password is asked to
authenticate with this web interface. Please note that THE PASSWORD IS WRITTEN
IN CLEAR TEXT in \fI/etc/middleman.xml\fP, and can be read by the user 'proxy',
and by any user from the system group 'proxy'. By default, the proxy
can only be accessed from the localhost IP (127.0.0.1).
.SH FILES
.TP
/usr/share/middleman/section.xml
XML section file used by the web interface.
.PP
The following files are used by \fBmiddleman\fP when it is managed by the
Debian maintainer init script \fI/etc/init.d/middleman\fP. In this case,
\fBmiddleman\fP runs as a systemwide daemon:
.TP
/etc/init.d/middleman
Debian init scripts for \fBmiddleman\fP.
.TP
/etc/default/middleman
Default options read by \fI/etc/init.d/middleman\fP.
.TP
/etc/middleman.xml
Configuration file for the systemwide service.
.TP
/var/run/middleman/middleman.pid
Contains the PID number of the \fBmiddleman\fP process.
.TP
/var/log/middleman/middleman.log*
Contains \fBmiddleman\fP log messages.
.TP
/var/cache/middleman/journal, /var/cache/middleman/*/*
\fBmiddleman\fP web cache files repository.
.SH ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
.TP
\fBNONE\fP
middleman does not support any ENVIRONMENT variables.
.SH EXAMPLES
.LP
Any system user can run its own \fBmiddleman\fP proxy and use it. Some base
configuration files are available into \fI/usr/share/doc/middleman/examples\fP
directory.
Type:
.LP
/usr/sbin/middleman \-c ~/middleman.xml \-s /usr/share/middleman/section.xml
