installatie verslag debian sarge
Beste,
Ik heb zonet nog eens een verse installatie van sarge
uitgevoerd. Hieronder mijn opmerkingen in verband met
de Nederalandse taal.
Ik heb ook nog een verslag met meer algemene opmerkingen naar
het gevraagde adres gestuurd (submit@bugs.debian.org).
Ik hoop dat dit helpt,

* burned a CD from the iso
* inserted into box. box did find CD OK and showed image on screen

Comments/Problems:
* I used Nederlands (Belgium) as language
* I have a Qwerty (104) keyboard, and had difficulty finding it,
as it is marked as us (I guess)
...
* Configuration of APT:
* Instead of asking if you wish to use a "mirror" server, it would be
more clear to me if the question would be in the sense of:
"would you like to use an external ftp or http server for
installation"
(this is not always a "mirror", it could be a primary server, and
I believe that for a newbe, it is easier to understand the concept
of an external server, opposed to a local CD, than the of a mirror
server, as opposed to the original server.)
* I selected (IIRC) : desktop, file server, ...
(in the meanwhile, I turned off Apple protocols as they boot quite
slow)

* localisation/language was chosen as:
* locality = Nederlands/Belgium
* keyboard = English/US
==> in console mode this works correctly (keymap us)
==> in X / Gnome : it interpretes my keyboard as a
Azerty ... (see below) :-/

* Gnome: when trying to reboot: An english message appears:
"Please enter root password to reboot" (this should have been
a Dutch message to be exact)
...
* power cycled the box and went into XF86Config-4 to change it
manually from 'be' to 'us' . Also added gpmdata to make
it work with gpm repeat.
