Not needed. Default us layout also has the euro symbol included under
Multi-Key + e (for most configurations: left Alt_L-e).
(/usr/share/keymaps/i386/querty/us.keymap.gz has "include euro")
You need to make sure your console font includes the euro sign to be able to
use it though.
In the us_intl layouts (both iso01 and iso15 variants) the "'~`^ keys are dead
keys so you can type accents on consoles. Personally I prefer _not_ to have
this enabled by default as I feel in Dutch typing accents in consoles is
quite rare.
The us_intl.iso15 variant additionally has euro under Alt_L+5 as well as Alt_L
+e.
A us based keymap that supports typing accents using Alt_L would be nice, but
AFAIK does not currently exist.
Cheers,
Frans
