Bug#412312: iconv fails when converting Catalan "ela geminada" character

This is basicaly it:

  $ echo ŀ | iconv -f utf-8 -t iso-8859-1
  iconv: illegal input sequence at position 0

I would expect it to generate two iso-8859-1 characters out of ŀ, i.e.
the equivalent of l·.
