Re: Intel e1000e network card missing in Knoppix 7.4.1 Linux kernel

Hi Klaus,
Sorry for the confusion in my last email, I did spend a little more time on it and found out that it is there (lsmod can see the driver mounted and it is in use "1") but it is not working (no eth)
I am using pxe boot in a vmware environment with a e1000e network interface.
The same exact setup (vm) works with 7.4.0 and does not with 7.4.1.
(pxe boot works just fine with other network interface emulations such vmxnet3 or pcnet) When booting from the ISO (in the same vm) I can verify that the driver is loaded but no eth device is found (ifcongig -a). I did not find yet a physical machine with a intel e1000e interface to try it out.
Best Regards,
Gilles

PS: I need to send you some init updates for the cifs boot. (something changed with cifs between 7.3.0 and 7.4.0)

Hmm... I don't quite understand the problem here, find says it's there:

$ find /lib/modules -iname e1000e.ko
/lib/modules/3.16.2/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/e1000e.ko
/lib/modules/3.16.2-64/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/e1000e.ko

sudo modprobe e1000e works as well. What made you think it's missing?

Regards
-Klaus
