First remove ntfs-3g-ng regardless of any dependencies, using

sudo dpkg --purge --force-all ntfs-3g-ng

then install the ntfs-3g Debian package from Debian/unstable after
copying the package file, using

sudo dpkg -i ntfs-3g_1%3a2012.1.15AR.5-1_i386.deb

Again, doing this on a flash-installed Knoppix 7.0.2 with overlay, the
change is permanent.
