Remasterin VMKnoppix

Greetings!

I am attempting to remaster VMKnoppix. I am following this document
http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto

I have removed the packages listed here

I have also performed an apt-get update apt-get upgrade

Unfortunately after remastering, the boot menu displays the knoppix 5.1.1 boot splash screen and has errors that follow. It seems that there is something lost during the remaster but i am unable to figure out what.

Any ideas?
